Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Film consumption patterns reflect the entertainment preferences and cultural inclinations of a population. In Lafia South Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, films serve as an important source of entertainment and information for residents. The rise of local films, especially indigenous films in various Nigerian languages, has brought a significant shift in the way people engage with media content. Local films often portray relatable stories that reflect the socio-cultural realities of the community, offering a source of connection and identification for viewers. 1.5 Research Hypotheses
Residents of Lafia South have a higher preference for local films produced in their native language.

1.6 Significance of the Study
